Welcome to Nina Lake Writes!

NINA LAKE LOGO

Welcome Comrades!  To all my fellow writers in the struggle or who have survived the struggle (because let’s face it, it’s really one or the other) I say, Thank you for visiting my site- checking out the Blog.

Please feel free to peruse. I will post new material about once a month, well, that’s the plan anyway.  The blogs will mainly contain content about my writing journey and/or books I’m currently reading (kind of a book-clubby vibe).  Currently, I’m redrafting one novel and editing another. Oy!

I write Contemporary Women’s Fiction.  Particularly, my characters are ordinary people put under high-pressure circumstances, pushing their internal emotional boundaries on a wide array of social and moral consciousness.

Whatever you write, whatever you’re working on, speak you’re truth.  Be honest, tell the story you want to tell in the best way you know how.

We need diverse books.  #writingcommunity @DiverseInk

A few Favorites from me:

Favorite time to write:  Daytime is the most productive for me.  I have a day job so I write before work, on my lunch break and a little before dinner.

Favorite Book:  As of today, it’s “Reconstructing Amelia” by Kimberly McCreight.

Favorite Author:  Yikes, just one!  In no particular order, they are- John Saul, Stephen King, Sylvia Day, Kimberly McCreight, Jodi Picoult, Toni Morrison, Zane, Kristin Hannah, and Jane Austen.  I love so many more but these are my absolute favorites.

Favorite Character:  A tie between Amelia from Reconstructing Amelia by Kimberly McCreight and  Elinor from Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen.

Favorite Color:  Red.

Favorite Food:  Come on.  Everything.

Favorite Sound:  Good music.

Favorite Smell:  A boardwalk in the summertime; the ocean salt, cotton candy, hot dogs and fries!

Happy Writing!
